Paul Sarachman, CFA, FCSI

President

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Sarachman was Managing Director, Head of Sales at National Bank Financial, the Investment Banking arm of National Bank of Canada for a total of 5 years. He is a top-ranked institutional salesman with over 25+ years experience, including as former Head of Sales & Trading at Blackmont Capital. He also worked in institutional sales at Merrill Lynch, Scotia Capital, and employee-owned DFI Securities (purchased by Deutsche Bank).


Adam Carlson

Managing Director

Co-Head Institutional Sales & Trading

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Carlson spent 4 years with Credit Suisse as a Vice President, Institutional Equity Sales based in London. He covered both fundamental and hedge fund accounts from a natural resources perspective. Before his tenure in Europe, Mr. Carlson spent several years in private equity at Genuity Capital Partners (now Canaccord Genuity) and in Investment Banking at National Bank Financial. Mr. Carlson holds both MBA and HBA degrees from the University of Western Ontario.


Kerk Hilton

Managing Director

Co-Head Institutional Sales & Trading

Kerk is an original member of the founding AltaCorp Capital team and initial shareholders in 2011, and prior was an Energy Specialist/Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales at Macquarie Securities, and prior thereto, Vice President, Institutional Sales at Tristone Capital Inc. since 2006. He covers a variety of institutional investors throughout North America. Before entering the investment banking world, he served in increasingly senior investor relations and corporate development roles as VP, Investor Relations at Canetic Resources/ Acclaim Energy, and as Manager, Investor Relations at Suncor Energy.  Kerk started his career in the oil services sector at Prudential Steel and then Enserco Energy Services.  Mr. Hilton holds a Bachelor degree from Mount Royal University and is active in the outdoors.  He has been a 10 year long volunteer with the Society for Third World Dentistry.

 


Tim Miller

Managing Director, Institutional Sales

Mr. Miller has 10 years of Capital Markets experience, most recently as Vice President Institutional Equity Sales at Fraser Mackenzie Ltd. Prior to this, he worked at a number of Canadian independent dealers covering fundamental and hedge fund accounts, primarily in the US and with a focus on natural resources equities.


Colin Fatti

Managing Director, Institutional Equity Sales

Mr. Fatti has nearly 10 years of Institutional Equity Sales experience. Prior to joining AltaCorp, Colin spent 6 years at The Benchmark Company as a Managing Director, Institutional Equity Sales based in Denver, CO. He covered both Fundamental and Hedge Fund accounts primarily in Denver, New York and Southern California.  Prior to that, Colin worked in Institutional Equity Sales for Wedbush Securities in Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Fatti holds an MBA from Pepperdine and a BA from the University of Notre Dame. While attending Notre Dame, Colin was a member of their NCAA Division 1 Lacrosse Team from 2001-2005.


Mervin Kopeck

Managing Director, Head of Institutional Equity Trading

Mr. Kopeck brings to AltaCorp over 16 years of Institutional trading experience. He spent the past 11 years at Paradigm Capital as Partner, covering key accounts in both Canada and the US. Prior to that he spent 3 years at National Bank working as sales/program equity trader, and 2 years at Griffiths McBurney and Partners. Mr. Kopeck holds a BA in Economics from Princeton University. Before joining industry, he played professional hockey throughout Germany and in the minors in North America.


Shane Dungey

Managing Director, Institutional Trading

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Dungey was Vice President, Institutional Trading at Macquarie Securities, and prior thereto, Tristone Capital Inc. since 2008. Before moving to Calgary, Mr. Dungey was Head Trader and Portfolio Manager of Passive funds at AEGON Capital Management in Toronto. His volunteer commitments include Play4Kids, a non-profit organization founded by the Dungey Family that aims to improve the lives of children through PLAY . Mr. Dungey holds an Hons BA in Political Science from York University. Subsequent to joining industry, he played professional hockey throughout Europe and the minors in North America.


Chris Petrow

Managing Director, Institutional Trading

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Petrow spent six years with Cormark Securities on the Institutional Equity Trading desk, covering a mix of both fundamental and hedge fund accounts. Before this tenure Mr. Petrow spent two years at Jennings Capital as an Institutional Equity Trader and prior to that he started and spent a year on the Merrill Lynch Equity desk. Mr. Petrow holds Honors in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business and played on the Mens’ Varsity hockey team at Western for four years. Prior to attending Western University Mr. Petrow played four years in the OHL and was draft pick by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2002.


Brian Racanelli

Managing Director, Institutional Trading

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Racanelli was an equity sales trader at Cantor Fitzgerald and Royal Bank of Canada, and prior thereto Mr. Racanelli was a part of building out Tristone Capital USA which was sold to Macquarie Group in 2009. Mr. Racanelli also was head of trading at energy boutique Petrie Parkman & Co in Denver. Mr. Racanelli has 20 years of equity trading experience beginning his career trading on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for Credit Suisse/First Boston. He holds a BA in business management from the University of Northern Colorado.


Anya Khomik

Desk Analyst, Sales & Trading

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Ms. Khomik spent 3 years with BMO Capital Markets Global Equity Products as an Analyst. Ms Khomik holds Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Economics) degree from Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto and she is currently a CFA level III candidate.
