Paul Sarachman, CFA, FCSI
Managing Director, Capital Markets
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Sarachman was Head of Sales at National Bank Financial, the Investment Banking arm of National Bank of Canada for a total of 5 years. He is a top-ranked institutional salesman with over 20 years experience, including as former Head of Sales & Trading at Blackmont Capital (now Stonecap Securities). He also worked in institutional sales at Merrill Lynch, Scotia Capital, and employee-owned DFI Securities.
Tyler Brenneman
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Brenneman spent 6 years as Vice President, Institutional Equity Trading at Merrill Lynch Canada in Toronto. Prior to that, he worked in investment banking at CIBC World Markets with a focus on the energy sector. Mr. Brenneman holds an MBA designation from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Adam Carlson
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Carlson spent 4 years with Credit Suisse as a Vice President, Institutional Equity Sales based in London. He covered both fundamental and hedge fund accounts from a natural resources perspective. Before his tenure in Europe, Mr. Carlson spent several years in private equity at Genuity Capital Partners (now Canaccord Genuity) and in Investment Banking at National Bank Financial. Mr. Carlson holds both MBA and HBA degrees from the University of Western Ontario.
Kerk Hilton
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Hilton was an Energy Specialist/Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales at Macquarie Securities, and prior thereto, Vice President, Institutional Sales at Tristone Capital Inc. since 2006. He has over 16 years of experience in a variety of senior investor relations/corporate development positions, most recently at Acclaim Energy/Canetic Resources, Suncor Energy, Enserco Well Services, and Prudential Steel. Mr. Hilton was ranked as one of the top institutional sales professionals in 2009/2010 by Brendan Woods International. Mr. Hilton holds a Bachelor degree from Mount Royal University. Outside of business, he is an active volunteer with Dentistry for All, a charity providing dental services in third world countries. Mr. Hilton has also been involved in a number of fundraising initiatives with the Saskatchewan Party and coaches and participates in a variety of community sports.
Brent Norrey
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Norrey was Vice President Equity Trading, at State Street Global Markets in Toronto. Prior thereto, he was VP of Equity Trading at a Global investment Firm based in Toronto, serving Canadian and European clients. Mr. Norrey has a total of 20 years of institutional trading experience having also worked in Vancouver and Calgary. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Trent University. Outside of Business, Mr. Norrey is Past President of the Appleby College Alumni Association and was a Past Board Member of Appleby as well.
Tate Pinder
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Pinder spent seven years on the trading desk at Acumen Capital Partners, most recently as Head Trader. In addition to extensive trading experience, he has been active in the grey market for Canadian private E&P companies. Mr. Pinder holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary.
Cheryl Polan
Managing Director, Institutional Trading
Ms. Polan has over 22 years extensive capital markets experience, on both the buy and sell side. Prior to joining AltaCorp, she spent 2 years as Senior Vice President at a national boutique investment firm, and prior thereto, was Vice President, Institutional Equity Trading at Orion Securities for 7 years (during which it was purchased by Macquarie). Ms. Polan began her career at Altamira, where over a period of 12 years she worked up from a position of Trade Support into the role of Head Trader. Outside of business, Ms. Polan coaches junior girls hockey.
Brent Taylor, CFA
Managing Director, Institutional Sales
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Taylor spent over 8 years as Director, Institutional Sales at Credit Suisse, covering US and Canadian accounts. Prior to that, he was on the desk at CIBC, and also worked in Equity Research with Morgan Stanley Canada. Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Business (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Jamie Riff
Director, Institutional Sales
Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Riff spent 3 years on the sales desk at National Bank Financial, the Investment Banking arm of National Bank of Canada. Prior thereto, he was an Associate Analyst in Equity Research at RBC Capital Markets, covering Base Metals and Mining from 2005 to 2008. Mr. Riff holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University, a P.Eng. designation, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
