George Gosbee

Chairman & CEO

Mr. Gosbee’s career to date spans 20 years in corporate finance, investment banking and global capital markets. Prior to founding AltaCorp Capital in 2010, Mr. Gosbee was Chairman, President & CEO of Tristone Capital Global Inc., a global energy investment firm which he founded in 2000. With 180 employees and offices in London, Houston, Denver, Calgary, and Buenos Aires, Tristone acted on oil and gas transactions valued over $67 billion in 60 countries. Tristone became the largest global independent energy advisory firm and was acquired by an international bank in 2009.

Prior thereto, Mr. Gosbee spent over 8 years as a Managing Director in a regional and then a national investment firm. His current firm, AltaCorp Capital, is a Canadian investment bank that is partnered with Alberta Treasury Branch (ATB Financial), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Government of Alberta.

Mr. Gosbee is also Vice Chair of Alberta Investment Management Co (AIMCo), a $70 billion institutional investment fund. He is on the Canadian Minister of Finance's Economic Advisory Council that was formed during the economic crisis in 2008, is a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and is on the Board of Directors for TMX Group. Mr. Gosbee is a former Director of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and a former board member of Chrysler Group LLC in Detroit, where he served on behalf of both the Canadian federal and provincial (Ontario) governments to oversee their collective investment in the company.

In 2009, Mr. Gosbee was honoured as one of 200 Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum for his professional accomplishments and community commitments. He has received the Haskayne School of Business’ Distinguished Alumni Award, and was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year for the Prairie Region by Ernst and Young. Mr. Gosbee has been awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Premier of Alberta, a symbol and recognition of ongoing service, excellence and community involvement. He was also one of three to receive the 2012 Calgary Board of Education Distinguished Alumni Award.

Mr. Gosbee holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary where he specialized in finance and petroleum land management. Outside of business, Mr. Gosbee is active on community boards and charity initiatives. He is Chairman of the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary, Past Chairman of the Board for the Alberta College of Art and Design, Director of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, and past board member for the Edge School and Sandy Cross Conservation Foundation. Mr. Gosbee is an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the Calgary Highlanders Infantry Unit of the 41st Canadian Brigade Group.


Matt Colucci

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Oilfield Services

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Colucci held positions over a period of 7 years in the Investment Banking groups at Westwind Partners, Thomas Weisel Partners and Stifel Nicolaus in Calgary and London, UK. During this time he focused on coverage of the North American and international oil and gas sectors as well as the oilfield services sector. Prior thereto, Mr. Colucci worked in the Financial Services department at TD Financial Group. Holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance) from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.


Gurdeep Gill, CFA

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Exploration & Production

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Gill worked in the Corporate & Investment Banking group for a major chartered bank in Calgary. Prior to that, Mr. Gill was Vice President, Investment Banking at Tristone Capital Inc. from 2003 to 2008, and prior thereto was involved with a Calgary-based hedge fund. Mr. Gill holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Major in Finance (Honours), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Calgary. He is also a CFA Charterholder.


Lee Girardo, CFA

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Exploration & Production

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Girardo worked at Scotia Capital / Scotia Waterous in the investment banking group from 2001 to 2011, where he held progressively senior investment banking roles, focusing on the energy sector. He has experience executing a broad range of financial transactions including merger and acquisition advisory assignments, valuations and fairness opinions, equity and debt financings. Mr. Girardo holds a Bachelor of International Business Management degree from the University of Victoria, and is a CFA Charterholder.


Bill Murray, CFA

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Agri-Industry | Energy Infrastructure & Industrials

Mr. Murray is a 15-year veteran investment banker with a track record of developing strong business relationships and leading franchises. His primary focus at AltaCorp is building on the firm’s strong presence in the Agriculture sector. Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Murray spent over 4 years at Raymond James Ltd and PI Financial Corp. as Managing Director covering Industrial and Consumer Products companies in Canada and Internationally with a particular focus in the Infrastructure, Aerospace and Transportation sectors. From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Murray was a Managing Director/Partner at Versant Partners where he was active in financing and advising clients on more than a hundred transactions in a wide range of sectors, nearly half as lead manager. Mr. Murray began his investment banking career in 1995 at First Marathon Securities Ltd where he worked for over 5 years, including after it was acquired by National Bank. Mr. Murray holds a B.A. in Business Administration (high distinction) from the University of Nebraska and an MBA (distinction) from McGill University. He is also a CFA charterholder.
 


Patrick Stables

Associate, Investment Banking

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Stables was an Investment Banking Analyst with Thomas Weisel Partners/Stifel Nicolaus, where he focused primarily on E&P and Oilfield Services. Prior to that, he worked in the Private Investment Advice division of TD Waterhouse. Mr. Stables holds a Bachelor of Applied Finance Degree from Mount Royal University and is a CFA level II candidate.


Jesse Hardage

Associate, Investment Banking

Prior to joining AltaCorp Capital in 2011, Mr. Hardage held positions in both research and investment banking over a period of 2 years at a leading Canadian investment bank. Mr. Hardage holds a Masters of Economics from the University of Hong Kong, and a BA in Economics from the University of Calgary. He is currently a level II candidate in the CFA program.


Yi Huang

Analyst, Investment Banking

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Huang was an intern with Alberta Investment Management Corp (AIMCo), where he responsible for carrying out various procedures for the AIMCo valuation group as well as implementing different projects for AIMCo Operations. Prior to that, he interned in a leading asset management corporation in Shanghai, China as a research analyst. Mr. Huang holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance) from the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta.


Greg Smiddy

Analyst, Investment Banking

Prior to joining AltaCorp, Mr. Smiddy was an Investment Banking Analyst with Credit Suisse Securities (Canada), where he focused primarily on E&P including the oilsands sector. Prior to that, he worked in the investment banking department of Haywood Securities. Mr. Smiddy holds a Bachelor of Finance Honours Degree from the University of Johannesburg and is currently a CFA level II candidate.
